When one of the local public tv channels here in NYC would broadcast J-dramas on weekday mornings and Sunday nights, I saw the show she did with Yusuke Santamaria. It was a cornball comedy but there were some dramatic moments where I thought she shned. That was fin the mid-nineties, though and I thought she was beautiful. Her and her entire family are extremely photogenic and I believe they all perform. Her father, Koshiro, is a top-ranked Kabuki performer and has been in a number j-dramas as well. I'm glad she's branching out to darker stories and movies the way Noriko Fujiwara did when she skirted the expected for a drama maven and the pretty face that was plastered all over billoards and commercials and took lead in The Ring.
