After seeing the Japanese version with subtitles and then (accidentally) buying the dubbed-into-English version, I truly understood the meaning of that cliche, "It loses something in the translation." Think of the dubbing you've heard in old sex clips, where some actress is sitting in a room watching the film and making sex noise in sync with the action on screen. You get the idea.
