There are some DVDs that are never made free to download. Buying international feels very uncertain though. I don't know how the box will look like, I don't want anyone to see the DVDs when they come (incase they open the box for some reason). Are there sites where you can pay to download DVDs? eic-book and eic-av look like they have some but not a lot. Where are good places to buy DVDs internationally? Do customs check these things when they are shipped to you?Customs checks, like opening to inspect, between 5 and 30% of packages entering the US to private addresses. Business addresses get a lower inspection rate, somewhere in the lines of 1-5%. The person I spoke to a few years ago would not be more specific regarding the numbers. If the origin address (or country) is known to them to ship contraband, the chances of the package being opened for inspection is greater, same goes if you have a criminal history (the checks are hardly random). Anything declared as a gift is suspect, and also if the declared value is over a few hundred USD. Depending on the method used to ship the package, it could enter the control of the US postal system BEFORE it leaves Japan. Which would mean that customs can't open it with out the postal inspector general's permission. It's not hard to get at all, but that decreases the chances that it will get opened at customs. Also, if it hits the US postal system as "First class mail" before entering the country, then the procedures for them opening that package are very, very strict and requires a warrant, but it depends on where it is passed off to control of the US postal system from the prior carrier. Priority mail, or air mail is not under the same set of rules, nor are private carriers such as UPS, Fed-Ex or DHL. My personal experience is that from Japan or China, DHL packages are the most likely ones to be opened, "EMS" being the least likely, but YMMV.
